About Us

Mission:

The Miss Kenya USA Organization’s objective is to empower young Kenyan women here in the United States; through engaging them in events and programs that will enhance their educational background as well as growth within the Diaspora through philanthropic work. Our goal is to have as many young Kenyan Women groomed and ready, to render their services as well as be positive role models within the community and the diaspora. Miss Kenya USA Pageant will serve as a platform for these young women to showcase their talent and also learn how to network within different arenas.

The Miss Kenya USA organization hopes to help each and every young woman that participates in the pageant to achieve their philanthropic work whether they win the crown or not. This is a challenging way forward to enable us to achieve the goals set forth by Vision 2030; by the Kenyan Government.  We hope to link each one of the contestants with an organization that is already working at social and/or developmental issues in Kenya as well as here in the USA; to further the purpose of their platforms. Lastly we shall encourage these young women to market and be the best goodwill ambassadors for Kenya in the Diaspora.

Vision:

The pageant’s ultimate vision is to allow each young lady that is participating in the pageant to have an avenue where they can express themselves freely while exercising their goals towards development. It also hopes to mold these young women to be leaders of tomorrow, by helping them adapt to roles and programs that will utilize their skills to their maximum potential. Our ultimate goal is to impact one girl child at a time that will in turn produce a ripple effect within our community of development and self sufficiency.

History:

The Pageant was the vision of Mr. Michael a.k.a “Frakaz” Bisonga, under the Frakaz Entertainment Group based in Houston, TX. The Pageant was always hosted in Houston over the Memorial Weekend in 2006 saw the first actual pageant take place. This drew a number of girls to part take in the pageant, eventually making the next year 2007 which had the most participants to date. In 2008 another set of participants took part in it and also followed 2009 which was the last time the pageant was held.

Mr. Bisonga eventually decided to part ways with the pageant as his vision for his entertainment focused more on the Radio segment of his entertainment group. Now you can support and listen to him on Frakaz Radio by logging on to www.frakaz.com an online radio station.

Gloria McCarthy a product of Mr. Bisonga’s work took over the running of the pageant and decided to change its course. As a former participant she understood the need of a face change as well the future of the pageant. Ms. McCarthy decided to run the pageant as a platform where all participants were winners which meant that the Kenyan community benefited from these newly groomed leaders.

Eventually this saw the birth of Women In Hats, which is an annual event that links young women who are past, present and future participants of the pageant that eventually get to link up with women of various working backgrounds. The purpose of this event is to forge a network of working women who mentor and groom the next generation of women who will take over from them.
