MALAIKA KIBUNGUCHY BIOGRAPHY
My name is Malaika Kibunguchy and I am currently an undergrad student studying Liberal studies with a concentration on Psychology. I hope to one day become a child life specialist as well as being able to build up orphanages in Kenya. I have a passion for children and always have. I currently teach preschool and I have been doing so for the past 3 years and I love it. In the past I have done many works on earning funds to help provide feeding programs to kids in Kenya and all of my fundraising events have been successful, all to the glory of god.In 2016 I raised funds for an orphanage in Thika, Kenya called the Karibu center. While I raised funds for this center, I was in the running for Face of Kenya USA 2016 and it was such a great experience.This was my first step into realizing a passion of giving back. That same year I visited Kenya and I organized a youth event for local youth in Webuye,Kenya (my parents hometown). On my trip to Kenya 2016 I met the owner of IDENT KENYA and we shared similar thoughts of wanting to change lives for specifically street kids in Kenya. IDENT provides various feeding programs for street children all across Kenya. These children are able to eat a full nutrition filled meal without having to worry so much. Summer 2017 I hosted a BBQ fundraiser for IDENT and I was able to help provide for more feeding programs. November 2017 I ran in MissAfriCaribe and placed top 5 and 3rd runner up.As I run for Miss Kenya USA I decided to make this run especially personal in remembrance of my late Grandmother who passed away two years ago.My family and I have decided to build up an academy for children in her remembrance and that will be my platform for my running. The Dina Nasike Academy named after my grandmother is my platform. My family and I are building up a educational academy in memory of her. We love you grandma.
