LORREEN AGANDI BIOGRAPHY
Lorreen Agandi is a co-founder of Kisumu Girls Empowerment and Health located in Ranjira Kano (Kisumu, Kenya). As well as being a mentor to young girls in Kisumu, Lorreen assist with sending medical supplies from John Hopkins Hospital to Ranjira Health Clinic. While in the United States, she mentors inner city students at Dunbar High School in Baltimore MD, who have aspirations of pursuing careers in STEM related fields. When she is not mentoring students she works as a soccer referee for the United States Soccer Federation. Lorreen holds bachelors of science degrees in Biology (Honors) and Chemistry from East Carolina University. Currently she is working as a clinical research assistant at the University of Maryland, in which she hopes to use these skills acquired to attend medical school in the future. With her medical degree, Lorreen aspires to become a general surgeon and open a hospital in Kisumu.
Lorreen has a passion for assisting young girls who want to pursue STEM related fields but do not have the means of furthering their education beyond primary school, or need guidance on how to achieve these goals. With this in mind, she has become a participant of the Miss Kenya USA pageant in hopes of furthering her platform of bringing hope and guidance to young girls in Kenya interested in STEM related fields.
