Polyne Akech

POLYNE AKECH BIOGRAPHY

Polyne Anyango Akech ‘21 grew up in Kenya until the age of 16 and graduated from Central Dauphin East high school. She is a junior at the Pennsylvania State University, double majoring in Telecommunications and Security Risk Analysis with a minor in African Studies. Polyne is currently an historian for Penn State International Dance Ensemble, a member of Big Brother Big Sister volunteer program based in State College and also a part of Penn State News Network production. She is also an active member of African Student Association and has participated in their student run pageant. She volunteered with Keystone Human Services in Harrisburg assisting adults dealing with intellectual disabilities in the summer. Her platform is the Homa Bay Orphanage. Her interest in this platform is inspired by her young orphan cousins and low income families in her hometown back in Kenya.  Polyne aspires to pursue a career in the TV production industry. When she is not busy studying, she enjoys cooking and reading novels.
