Platform: To educate the Kenyan community on different diagnosis of diseases so as to stop classifying all as the same(mad) egDementian, Uncontrrolled seizures etc
Mental illness; It is a disease with social stigma .This means that most patient and their relative’s will hide diseases so that the society or community doesen’t stigmatise the family. The important thing here is to educate the society that mental illness is a disease like any other only that it affects the mind. This way patients will not hide the diseases, that will go for help early before the diseases progresses further. causes of diseases are stress, psychosis, biolar ,obsessive compulsion disorder and depression that are affecting more people because of more problems in life. This is not a one person job and goverment ,non -profit organisations and chiefs will be involved. The organisations above and Ministry of Health would finance for hiring people, equipments for building to facilitate the education.
In Kenya we like taking care of our elderly ones. In the past we did not have Assisted living and Adult family homes.Nowadays it is hard to take care of the elderly and our young children with very busy schedule. The community needs to be educated that taking patient to a nursing homes doesn’t mean we don’t care. It is because of life change -becoming very busy.
