Ciiru is a recording artist and entrepreneur based in Los Angeles CA. She has used her skills as a musician ,dancer and theatre actress as platforms to address Social Justice Issues . This has prompted her to work with various organisations such as Barbers Against Hunger campaign to feed families in Seattle Washington. She was also a part of the documentary the Bound – Africans vs African Americans by Peres Awino; a documentary aimed at reconciling the rift between Africans and African American individuals. Additionally, she was the lead actress on a play at the Walt Disney concert hall, a play written and directed by Peres Awino to raise awareness on the harmful effects of FGM practices.
Ciiru has also mentored young ladies through the Young Women Empowered organization based in Kirkland Washington. Through their Y-We Create Camp she worked with teens and young ladies to empower them to express themselves through designing and creating their own personal fashion. She also facilitated discussions on the issues of exploitation that comes with sustainable fashion and consumer supply chains. For this pageant, Ciiru will be running on a personal cause,the platform of Sexual Assault. She hopes to encourage the community as a whole to become allies to Sexual Assault survivors. She hopes by sharing her personal story she will encourage people to be their neighbor’s keeper.
